Environmentalist & Founder, Green Generation Initiative

Elizabeth Wathuti, a dedicated environmentalist and dynamic young climate leader from Kenya, is the visionary Founder of the Green Generation Initiative (GGI). She serves as a commissioner representing Civil Society and Youths at the Nairobi Rivers Commission and also as a Commissioner on the Global Commission on the Economics of Water (GCEW) alongside notable figures. Elizabeth's commitment to environmental preservation is further exemplified by her role as a Counties Advisory Committee (CAC) member for the Upper Tana Nairobi Water Fund. 

She has made a global impact as the Global South Youth Co-chair for the COP26 Civil Society and Youth Advisory Council and as the lead coordinator of the African Youth Climate Assembly (ACYA). Elizabeth has addressed world leaders at the World Leaders' Summit opening ceremony during COP26 and is a dedicated youth council member of International Reserva: The Youth Land Trust. 

She has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Wangari Maathai Scholarship Award, UN Young Champions of the Earth, TIME100, and the Africa Green Person of the Year Award. Elizabeth's remarkable leadership extends to establishing the Wangari Maathai Youth Hub and supporting African youth delegations at international climate conferences. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Community Development. Elizabeth's passion and dedication continue to inspire and drive change globally.
