    James Hooton is a highly skilled professional currently serving as the Finance and Operations Director for a prominent charity operating throughout the South West of England. The charity focuses on addressing substance misuse among adults and young people, as well as homelessness through local authority contracts.

    Over the past three years, Hooton has played a pivotal role in transforming the charity's technological infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulatory changes, and stabilizing its financial position. His strategic leadership has been instrumental in preparing the organisation for future growth and sustainability.

    Before joining the charity sector, James Hooton amassed 16 years of experience at Goldman Sachs, where he held positions in London and Singapore. During his tenure, he managed middle and back-office teams, overseeing a diverse range of financial products, including commodities, equity derivatives, and cash equity. His expertise in these areas allowed him to effectively navigate complex financial landscapes.

    In Singapore, Hooton made significant contributions to operational risk management by advocating for and establishing teams and technological processes to enhance oversight and reporting. He also spearheaded the creation of dedicated teams focused on client relationships and trading risk. James actively participated in key operational projects across Asia, such as the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, as well as global initiatives like the Margining of Non-Cleared Derivatives.

    Notably, James served as the Operations Client Relationship Manager for large hedge fund clients based in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In this role, he successfully managed diverse external stakeholder relationships, operating across different financial jurisdictions, cultures, and languages.

    James holds an MSc in Physics from Nottingham University, showcasing his strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This academic background, coupled with his extensive experience in financial services and charity operations, positions him as a versatile leader capable of driving both strategic and operational excellence.

    With his expertise in finance, operations, and relationship management, James has made a significant impact in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. His dedication to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals facing substance misuse and homelessness reflects his unwavering commitment to social responsibility.
