Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca served as the ninth President of the Republic of Malta from 2014 to 2019, leaving an indelible mark on the nation's history. Her presidency was notable for several reasons. Firstly, her nomination as President was unanimously approved by a parliamentary resolution, making it a momentous occasion in the constitutional history of Malta. Taking the oath of President on April 4, 2014, she assumed the highest office in the country.

At the age of 55, Coleiro Preca became the youngest President in Malta's history and only the second woman to hold the position in over three decades.
